Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC)
Water in Orlando (OUC)
If your water bill says OUC, your water starts deep in the Lower Floridan Aquifer and is treated at OUC plants before it reaches your meter. Some addresses with an Orlando mailing address are served by Orange County Utilities instead, so check the bill first.

Where your water comes from, per official reports
- OUC draws its water from the Lower Floridan Aquifer, about a quarter mile below the surface. [1]
- OUC uses ozone treatment at its water plants, mainly for taste and odor. [2]
- OUC reports monitoring for six types of PFAS and says its system has no lead service lines. [1]
- OUC stopped adding supplemental fluoride in July 2025, following state direction. [1]
What a utility report can't tell you about your home
- A lead-free utility system doesn't cover the plumbing after your meter. Older fixtures and solder inside the home are a separate question, and OUC says so itself.
- Aquifer minerals still bring hardness. Scale on fixtures and water heaters depends on how much you use and the temperature, not only the city average.
What we check during your free in-home visit
- Hardness at your kitchen tap and at the water heater
- Chlorine residual and taste or odor
- Total dissolved solids (TDS) for drinking water
- Signs of corrosion in older plumbing
An in-home test is a screening, not a certified laboratory analysis or a statement that water is safe to drink. For urgent concerns, follow your utility's official notices or contact your county health department.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know if I'm on OUC water?
Check the company name on your water bill. Your mailing city doesn't decide your provider. Many Orlando addresses are served by Orange County Utilities.
OUC says it has no lead service lines. Do I still need a test?
The report covers the utility's pipes, not your home's plumbing or fixtures. A free in-home test looks at what actually comes out of your tap.
Will ozone treatment remove hardness?
No. Ozone is used for disinfection and for taste and odor. Calcium and magnesium hardness needs a separate step, such as a softener.
